About Us

Welcome to Senior Care Community houseofheart.com! We are hoping that you will find plenty of useful information and support on our website!

This community is intended to provide information about senior care to seniors, their families, caregivers and senior care professionals. We are hoping that our website is convenient to use and that it has all necessary features. We are looking forward to hear your suggestions, so we can improve our website. Please go to Feedback page to tell us what you think about our website.

photo Senior Care Community is a creation of Sasha Divina, graduate student at Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. Sasha is applying for social work program at UCLA while volunteering her time at Jewish Family Services of Los Angeles. Assisting social workers, Sasha discovered multiple resources available to seniors and their caregivers, which many of them might be unaware about. The purpose of this website is to strike up a conversation between multiple professionals, seniors and their caregivers to create guides for different situations seniors might encounter.

There are several things we also need to discuss on this page in regards to ageism, seniority and some other issues related to elderly.

Website owners grew up in the society where seniority is highly respected. In Russian language, we address anyone who is older than us, using a respectful form of you. It’s similar to “Vous” in French and “Usted” in Spanish. Typically, younger generations are giving back to seniors in one way or another. This website brings us an opportunity to influence lives of many seniors, which is a nice feeling because we were raised by our grandparents, while our parents were working.

Consequently, we don’t want this community to be a place for debates about the meaning of the word senior and who this website is about. We believe that a person is as young as he feels. Everyone is welcome on this website.

Another term to discuss is “grandparents”. Many parents become grandparents at a very young age. Some grandparents are grand-grandparents at the same time. And some people chose not to be parent and we respect their choice also. We are not here to judge, we are here to provide information about senior care. When we refer to someone as grandparent, we don’t mean to apply stereotypes, we do it for convenience.

There are multiple contributors on this website. For some of them, English might not be their first language. Please treat these people with respect and evaluate their articles based on how useful is the provided information. If you feel that the article could be corrected, please let the author of the article know how they could improve the article in the respectful manner. As you can tell, we love Feedback and we need a lot of Volunteers to make this website a unique senior care resource. There are also other ways for you to say “Thank you” if you like what we do. You can “Recommend” us on Facebook, share your favorite articles with friends, post link to our website on your website or your favorite website/forum.
